How We Met
Sherrelle reached out to me a few months shy of her wedding date in need of a hair and makeup artist in Houston. She lives in Colorado but was having her wedding at Messina Hot Winery in Bryan, Texas. When she reached out to me, she was frustrated because she couldn’t find a beauty pro that was a good fit for the look she was going for. She’d been to a few in the area but felt their work wasn’t what she was looking for.
She was in the mall one day in Colorado at a local Ulta talking about her frustrations when one of the employees there reached out to a connection he had who referred her to me! I am so serious. I couldn’t believe it when she told me and was in total shock because she was all the way in Colorado. It just goes to show that you never know who’s watching you.
I am happy to say that Sherrelle and her daughter are both still clients of mine to this day. Yes, they fly from Colorado to get their hair done quarterly, and I’m so grateful that they trust my expertise.
Her Hair
Sherrelle wanted a simple yet classic hairstyle. She didn’t want the fuss of a veil or a headpiece and wanted “grown woman” vibes for her look. I added human hair clip-in extensions that were a smidge longer than her hair to create volume with a little bit of length. I curled and pinned each section, allowing the curls to cool so they would last as long as possible. Sherrelle was getting married outside in May, so the temperature was very hot. She has natural hair but had a Keratin Treatment on it to reduce frizzing and humidity.
Her Makeup
After doing her trial session, she noticed her skin appeared very oily once the makeup settled, so I decided to go with a sweat blocker and airbrush makeup to give her a “skin-like” look without the cakiness. I chose a bronze smokey eye with lash enhancements for her eyes, soft brown blush, and a warm lip.
